Unfortunately, most people only know about Helen Keller's early life in Alabama. The miracles that brought Keller into to a world of cognition are just are monumental as those in the latter half of her life which allowed her to write with a pencil in many more languages than her original English.
Helen Keller (1880-1968) was a socialist in the middle of her life. She read a multitude of Communist literature in 5 different languages respective Braille alphabets. Keller's works dealt mostly with her own story and her sociopolitical viewpoint. After her surge with socialist politics in the 1920s, she devoted the rest of her life to helping the blind and others dealt a difficult hand. Helen Keller died peacefully in her sleep in Connecticut on June 1st, 1968. [source]
