Fact of the Day More Information In 1936 the cover of Life magazine was a photo titled New Deal, Montana: Fort Peck Dam. In New York she had an apartment in the Art Deco Chrysler Building. This was not just any apartment, it was specifically on a floor equipped with gargoyles. Margaret Bourke-White had a fascination with photographing these gargoyles, probably because they reminded her of the automobile advertisements she used to produce, being modeled from the cars of the Art Deco 20s-30s and all. Oddly enough she kept alligators in this place high above New York City. She also posed on the gargoykles.
